I Won’t Contribute To School Feeding Programme, Fayose Tells FG
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that the school feeding programme of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government must be done without the proposed 40 per cent counterpart funding from States.
He said the Federal Government was already looking for an excuse for the impending failure of the programme by asking states to contribute 40 per cent to the scheme.
The governor, who said his state was interested in the scheme, added that the school feeding programme was purely a contract between the APC-led Federal Government and Nigerians.
“Were the States consulted before the APC made the promise during the presidential campaign? How can you make a promise and win election on the basis of that promise and now expect States to help you to fulfil the promise? That to me is fraud!”
Fayose in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said Ekiti and other states in the country deserved to benefit from the programme without assisting the federal government with any 40 per cent counterpart funding.
“Apart from the fact that Ekiti State lacked the financial wherewithal to provide counterpart fund for such a programme, it is the duty of President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC that won election on the basis of their promise to give free meal to school pupils to fulfil the promise without placing any burden on other tiers of government.”
The governor said the APC should rather blame itself for failing to do a proper study on the practicability of the scheme before promising Nigerians instead of looking for who to blame for not fulfilling the school feeding promise.
“The federal government knows that 80 per cent of the states lack the financial will to be able to contribute the 40 per cent counterpart fund for the programme and the time the programme eventually fails, Nigerians will be told that it failed because States did not key in to it.
“As for us in Ekiti, we are interested in the programme because Nigeria belongs to all of us. But we won’t contribute any counterpart fund because the programme is solely an electoral promise of the APC and we were never consulted before the promise was made.
“We don’t even have the capability to make any financial contribution even if it is 10 per cent because our financial condition is such that we can’t even pay workers salary,” Fayose said.

Ambode Orders Closure Of Pig Farms In Residential Areas
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has ordered the closure of all pig farms located in residential areas within the State as part of efforts to prevent health hazards associated with pig farming in residential areas.
The closure order became necessary owing to several complaints by residents of Taiwo Adewole Street in New Oko Oba settlement, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, on the unwholesome activities in a pig farm which poses health and environmental hazards to residents of the area.
A petition from one Mr. Wisdom Uzoma, published in the Punch Newspapers of Tuesday 7th June 2016 climaxed the series of complaints that necessitated Governor Akinwunmi’s directive to seal the pig farm immediately.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Toyin Suarau who led a team of agricultural officers in conjunction with men of the Lagos State Task Force to the location said that, “the attention of the Governor has been drawn to the petition by Wisdom Uzoma, adding that the Governor being a responsible and responsive leader, shared the residents’ concern for a healthy and hygienic environment thus has directed the immediate closure of the farm to forestall the outbreak of any disease.”
“Putting an end to the activities of the pig farm has become inevitable especially because of the health hazard posed by the farm to inhabitants of the area. We have not only shut down the pig farm, we have also confiscated some of the animals and ordered that the owner of the farm report to the Secretariat, Alausa for negotiation on how to relocate to one of the pig farm settlements or estates within the state or risk all animals being confiscated by Friday 10th June 2016”, he said.
Suarau noted that the health and security of residents is of utmost importance, he stressed that the present administration will not fold its arms and watch residents suffer from preventable and avoidable health and security mishaps.
He opined that the environmental effects associated with pig farming and poultry production include but not limited to groundwater and surface water contamination, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and long-running soil toxicity to plants and animals.
The Commissioner enjoined members of the public not to relent in their watchdog role by continually informing government of any anomalies seen or experienced that may be dangerous to health and communal living.

Ramadan Lecture: Things Which Do Not Break The Fast During This Holy Month
Rules of Fasting
Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar when almost every Muslim observe a fast, which is in a way showing of gratitude towards Allah and thanking him for whatever He has blessed you with.
Go through to find out what are the things that need to be avoided so that the fast do not break. So be extra careful and try refraining yourself from performing the mentioned activities so that the holy month of Ramadan remain truly Holy and aesthetic for you.
THINGS WHICH DO NOT BREAK THE FAST :- The things that do not really end one’s fast are as follows:
If one forgetfully eats, drinks or indulges in sexual relations one is not considered to have ended his/her fasting for this means that at the time of committing that act one is unmindful of the fast. However, if one continues even momentarily after recalling the fast, then and there the Saum will be nullified.
If one applies eye drop or if by any chance water enter one’s ears, one is not considered to have broken the fast.
Vomiting can no way break one’s fast but it should not be self-induced. For if one deliberately vomits and if it is mouthful, then this will surely break the fast. However vomiting less than a mouthful will not break the fast even if it is deliberately induced.
Smoke, if unintentionally inhaled will not break the fast.
Applying Surmah into the eye or smelling any fragrant which do not contain any kind of vapor will not break the fast.
If a food particle which is less than the size of a chana becomes unstuck from the teeth and if one unmindfully swallows the part, then one is not considered to have broken the fast.
Swallowing saliva and slime cannot break the fast.
In-taking of any kind of injections which do not reach the brain or stomach will not break the fast.
Cleaning one’s teeth with miswak will not break the fast even if the miswak is fresh and has a taste.
Blood in the saliva will not break the fast if the blood is less than the saliva. This fact will be recognized if the taste of the blood is not detected.
Breast-feeding a baby will not break the fast.
If during wudhu water mistakenly slips down the throat while one forgets about the saum, the fast will not break.
Ejaculation of semen during sleep or caused by imagination will not break the fast.
Janabat or the state of Hadath-e-Akbar which is purified by ghusl. If one has not taken ghusl and Sahri time ends, the fast is valid.
BREAKING NEWS!! Former Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi Is Dead
Nigerian football icon Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state, Naijaloaded was briefed.
The former international football player and coach had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged battle with cancer.
NL confirmed his death from a member of his family as well as one of his close associates.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a friend said.
He is survived by four children and his mother.
Keshi, the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations, achieved a rare feat in 2013 by becoming only the second person to win the trophy both as a player and a coach.
The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.
Keshi, a product of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos, started his playing career at a very young age at ACB Football Club, and later played for New Nigeria Bank, Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg, and a host of other clubs.
He represented Nigeria from 1982, at age 20, till 1994, most of the time captaining the Super Eagles and scoring vital goals from his position as a central defender.
He also coached Togo and Nigeria at the World Cup, as well as Mali.
Keshi, nicknamed the “Big Boss” for his leadership skills, is the fifth member of the all-conquering 1994 team to die, following Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Rashidi Yekini and Wilfred Agbonavbare.

Open Letter To FG – Scrap NYSC
I have read online about the purported postponement of the NYSC. I have decided to compile several reasons why the NYSC should be scrapped.
I don’t want this to come across to you as a political propaganda, I am neither for APC nor PDP I only represent myself in this view and a few others who will see reason with this. I fully represent NIGERIA.
Dear Mr President, DG NYSC and Mr Senate president,
I write to you with great respect because its not easy to be a leader and I humbly present my case that the NYSC scheme should either be scrapped or redefined to fit into the future of this great nation. Permit me to start with the reasons why I think the scheme be scrapped or amended after which I will talk about probable amendments that could be implemented.
WHY THE NYSC SCHEME SHOULD BE SCRAPPED/AMENDED.
1. The scheme was created to help the nation heal quickly from the effects of the Civil war: Now the civil war is over and we should be focused on avoiding another war- an intra personal war. This is a war that a person fights with himself otherwise known as Confusion.
How do you expect someone who studied Biochemistry to teach intergtated science effectively? First of, the graduate studied Biochemistry and not Biochemistry education! The former is practical and field related while the latter has to do with class activities)
2. Too much money is expended on this scheme and there are no visible results: I personally believe that the money spent on the NYSC scheme will be enough to create jobs for these graduates. Its not yielding results because after the 1-year mandatory service most of the graduates are left jobless and without savings to start up a business of their own – they don’t have savings not because they don’t want to but because the cost of ‘survival’ is high. NOTE that I used ‘cost of survival’ and not ‘cost of living’ that’s simply because the latter is not affordable!
3. Looks Like A Use-and-dump Scheme: After the one year compulsory service I said earlier that the graduates end up as jobless people. This is because there is NO system, not to talk of having an organized one. The companies (most times schools) that the corpers are posted to milk them of every dime the FG is paying (a paltry 19,800 most of which will be spent on transport). These people will still rent an apartment if they are so unlucky to be posted to a state where they know no one (80% of youth corp members fall in this category).
4. No relevant experience is gained in most cases: I need not to talk too much about this but I’ll say a little.
Now, of what relevance is the teaching experience a Banking and Finance graduate gets from teaching a primary school student? He/she will be dealing with adults on the job after NYSC, he/she can’t probably use whatever experience gotten. Total Waste Of Time You’d Permit Me To Say!!!
There are lots of reasons I believe the scheme should be scrapped or amended but I’ll leave the rest to the readers of this letter.
I have included the Senate president as recipient of this letter because I know nothing can be done except through the senate. The NYSC was brought in through an ACT, that act has to be amended by the legislative arm of government.
Before I go ahead to the possible solutions, I know some big guns will not agree that the scheme be scrapped because of what they gain from the system, a not-well-organised system.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
1. Scrap the whole scheme and use the funds put into the program to create jobs.
2. Let each person serve in their respective fields: Let the man who studied engineering serve with Julius Berger or ministry of works and let the man who studied Agriculture serve on a government farm and let them have the option of being fully employed after their service year.
3. Trainings: Should the scheme be scrapped, the government should make available free training centers for fresh graduates.
4. Soft loans: These loans should be given out to fresh graduates who wish to start up businesses without collecting collateral. There should be strict rules guiding the monitoring and implementation, defaulters should be punished.
These loans should be treated as a contract between the FG and the individual, the FG is contracting the young graduate to start a business and create jobs. That’s what happens when there are more businesses, more jobs are available.
I wish I could write more but I’m typing this from my phone, permit me to stop here.
I am Adebusoye Ademola and I think the NYSC should be scrapped or amended.
Nigerians what do you think about this?
Drop your comments.
